The Canon PowerShot V1 is coming on March 26th according to B&H Photo. I am personally excited about the Canon PowerShot V1 and I hope it does well. It was first announced here and it will likely be difficult to find for some time so do not miss your opportunity to preorder on March 26th if you want one this year.

Canon EOS R1 Firmware 1.02 Released

Canon released firmware 1.02 for the Canon EOS R1 which can be downloaded here or the Camera Connect app.

Firmware Version 1.0.2 incorporates the following enhancement and fix:
1. Optimizes the timing of the camera’s display of its internal camera temperature warning indicator.
2. Fixes an issue that may interfere with the camera’s ability to focus properly when using AF (autofocus) in certain zoom ranges.

If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.0.2, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

Preparations for a firmware update:
After the downloaded compressed file (.dmg file) is extracted, a firmware folder is created.

*Extracting the downloaded file:
The downloaded folder is automatically extracted, and a firmware folder is created. If the download folder cannot be automatically extracted, double-click the folder.

In the folder you downloaded are the firmware (EOSR1102.FIR / file size: 281,823,616 bytes) and instructions on the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese). Before starting the firmware update operations, please be sure to carefully review the instructions to confirm your understanding of the firmware update procedures.

Changes in version 1.0.1:
1. The Wi-Fi connection status is now identifiable by the color of the [FTP Transfer Icon].
2. Adds [Protect Images] and [Rating] during FTP Transfer.
3. Adds the ability to change [Custom Shooting Mode] while writing images to the media (BUSY).
4. Fixes an issue in which the camera may become inoperable if a lens that does not communicate with the camera is attached when repeatedly shooting while using HDMI output.
5. Fixes an issue in which the camera may become inoperable if an image is cropped while other images are being transferred to an FTP server.
6. Fixes an issue in which Err70 may occur when using an application software such as Camera Connect, and the load on the smartphone increases.
7. Fixes an issue in which image stabilization may become unstable in movie mode when panning diagonally while using some stabilization rigs (such as monopod or handheld rigs).

Canon EOS R5 Mark II Firmware 1.03 Released

Canon released firmware 1.03 for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II which can be downloaded here or the Camera Connect app.

Firmware Version 1.0.3 incorporates the following enhancement and fix:
1. Optimizes the timing of the camera’s display of its internal camera temperature warning indicator.

If the camera’s firmware is Version 1.0.1, please update the firmware with only one memory card inserted into the camera.

If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.0.3, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

Canon R50V Coming Soon
