We have discovered that the following issue occurs with the PowerShot V1 compact digital camera. We would like to inform you of the details of this issue and our response.

We sincerely apologize to customers who use this product for any inconvenience caused. We will continue to implement even more thorough quality control measures to ensure that our customers can use our products with peace of mind, so we appreciate your understanding.

In some cases, data such as the serial number is not stored correctly within the product, which can cause the following issues:

  • When connecting to a PC or using an app such as Camera Connect, the incorrect serial number and model name are displayed.
  • The Exif information of the captured image shows an incorrect serial number and model name.
  • You cannot register a device to your Canon ID account via Camera Connect.
    • *If you register via the official Canon website, you can manually enter your model information.

Applicable products
This applies to some PowerShot V1 compact digital cameras whose serial numbers have the following three digits: 155 and 156. The serial number is a 12-digit number found on the label attached to the camera body when the monitor is open.

How to check which products are affected
Among the above applicable serial numbers, products that are determined to be affected by the following procedure are eligible.

  • When you press the “Search” button, a screen for entering the camera’s serial number will appear. search
  • Enter the camera’s serial number (12 digits) in half-width numbers and press the “Confirm” button.
  • One of the following will be displayed:
    • This product is not eligible.
    • This is the applicable product.
      (If your product is affected, please refer to the next section, “Response.”)

Regarding response
If any of the affected products exhibit this issue, we will repair them free of charge. However, please note that even if the product is affected, inspections and repairs for issues other than those mentioned above may incur a fee.

Free repair acceptance period
Until October 31, 2027

About application
To request a repair, please call the PowerShot V1 Call Center (toll-free number) listed below. Canon’s designated courier (Yamato Transport) will deliver packaging materials at the date and time you specify. After the repair is complete, the courier will deliver the repaired product to you. Please send only the camera body. Please keep all other accessories and attachments (recording media, strap, battery, etc.). Customers are responsible for packaging the affected product.

Storage period
Please note that it will take approximately 10 days to 2 weeks.
*The return date may change depending on the congestion situation.
