Canon Launches “PowerShot V1,” the Flagship Model of the “PowerShot V Series” Meeting the Diverse Needs of Creators with Advanced Video and Still Photography Features Canon will release the “PowerShot V1”, a compact digital camera that enables easy yet professional-quality video and still photography, in late April 2025.
The “PowerShot V1” is the second model in the “PowerShot V Series”, following the Vlog camera “PowerShot V10”, which was released in June 2023. This compact digital camera is designed for high-quality video recording.
Compared to the 1.0-inch sensors commonly used in compact digital cameras, the PowerShot V1 features a 1.4-inch CMOS sensor with twice the surface area, delivering higher image quality and greater sensitivity.
With a zoom range equivalent to approximately 16mm to 50mm (35mm equivalent), the camera is versatile enough for group selfies, snapshots, vlogging, and a variety of other shooting scenarios.
Additionally, it combines high-performance autofocus (AF) and multiple shooting modes in a compact body, allowing creators to easily capture both professional-quality video and still images.
Canon will continue to expand its lineup of cameras that excel in both video and still photography, meeting the diverse needs of users.
Main Features
An All-in-One Camera That Balances Professional-Quality Performance and a Compact Body
For the first time in a Canon compact digital camera, the PowerShot V1 features a 1.4-inch CMOS sensor with a maximum effective resolution of approximately 22.3 million pixels (for still photography), combined with the DIGIC X image processor. This enables a maximum standard ISO sensitivity of 32,000 (for still photography).
Additionally, Canon’s proprietary Dual Pixel CMOS AF II for PowerShot ensures fast and highly accurate autofocus.
The camera also supports eye detection technology, which can track not only human eyes but also animals (dogs and cats), making it easier to achieve precise focus even with unpredictable movement.
By integrating high-end shooting performance into a compact body, the PowerShot V1 is designed for easy portability, making it a great companion for travel and everyday photography.
Video Recording Features for Greater Creative Freedom, Including a Built-in Cooling Fan
The camera is equipped with an internal cooling fan, which efficiently dissipates heat to reduce the impact of temperature increases on recording time during video shooting.
In addition to 4K cropped recording at 60P, the camera supports Canon Log 3, enabling 10-bit recording with rich gradation and excellent color reproduction.
Furthermore, it offers specialized shooting modes, including:
•“Review Mode”, ideal for product reviews
•“Image Stabilization Video”, effective for handheld shooting
These features ensure a comfortable and versatile video recording experience.
High-Speed Continuous Shooting at Up to 30 FPS and Versatile Still Photography Features for Capturing Every Moment
With the electronic shutter, the camera enables continuous shooting at up to approximately 30 frames per second (FPS), making it easy to capture fast-moving subjects with precision.
Additionally, the camera features “Advanced A+” mode, which automatically recognizes scenes and optimizes settings for challenging conditions such as nightscapes and backlit environments.
For creative expression, it includes a variety of “Creative Filters”, allowing users to capture unique and artistic shots with effects like Miniature Mode and Toy Camera Mode. These features provide a rich and versatile photography experience.
※1 When recording video, the 35mm equivalent focal length ranges from approximately 17mm to 52mm.
※2 For still photography. When recording video, the maximum effective pixel count is approximately 18.7 million pixels. Due to image processing, the effective pixel count may be reduced. ※3 The maximum autofocus coverage area is approximately 90% horizontally × 90% vertically. ※4 The eye detection function supports humans and animals (dogs/cats). It does not support birds or horses. ※5 When “Auto Horizon Correction” is enabled, the “Image Stabilization Video” mode cannot be used.
22MP Type 1.4 (18.4×12.3mm) Dual Pixel AF CMOS sensor
Zeiss released a teaser of the new Zeiss Otus ML 50mm f/1.4 coming February 25th on X. Last week we shared a teaser that Zeiss is back and now we know they plan to return to developing Zeiss Otus lenses which are some of their best. There are also details on Chinese websites that require a login that I am sharing below, which include details about the Zeiss Otus ML 85mm f/1.4 that will likely launch along side the 50mm Otus.
Zeiss Otus New Lens Appearance and Preorder Price Leaked, Includes Sample Images After six years, the Zeiss Otus mirrorless, short-flange-distance photography lenses are finally on their way. Unlike the DSLR era, when only one lens was released at a time, this time we’re getting two at once:
•Zeiss Otus ML 50mm F1.4 (E-mount / RF-mount / Z-mount)
•Zeiss Otus ML 85mm F1.4 (E-mount / RF-mount / Z-mount)
Otus 50mm F1.4 Specifications: •APO design
•Distagon retrofocus construction, 14 lens elements
•The first element is aspherical
•Incorporates many special glass elements
•All-metal, made in Japan
•Manual focus
•77×100 mm, 677 g (the weight has finally come down!)
Otus 85mm F1.4 Specifications: •APO design
•Sonnar construction (exact number of lens elements unknown)
•88×113 mm, 1040 g (this one’s a bit heavy)
Just when we thought Zeiss might be stepping away from the consumer photography market, this oldest giant in optical history has returned with a new-generation product.
It brings back memories of when the Otus 55mm F1.4 was released and ignited a revolution in large-aperture standard lens design (the Otus 55 was unveiled on October 7, 2013). After the Otus 55, a series of newly structured standard lenses burst onto the scene like mushrooms after the rain. From then on, standard lenses were no longer tied to the familiar double-Gauss design that hadn’t changed much since the 1960s.
The old saying, “Buy the cheapest 50mm prime,” became somewhat of a joke once standard lens designs became more complex.
Now, let’s look forward to seeing what kind of impact this new short-back-focus Otus can bring to the photography world. Will the new Zeiss Otus lead the next decade of optical design and become the benchmark for consumer photography lens quality in the next ten years? We can’t wait to find out!
A Retailer also posted and pulled the listings but I have the information from them below:

Every story is shaped by the person behind the camera. Some are quiet, some remain hidden—until the right storyteller brings them into focus. We can’t wait to show you these stories—and how they were captured. Watch this space on February 25. #ZEISSCameraLenses
