Designed specifically for Canon RF mount.
This lens features an optical system optimized for the image sensors of mirrorless cameras using the Canon RF mount. It has a full-frame image circle and can be used with both full-frame and APS-C size mirrorless cameras.
Information communication with the body via electronic contacts
The lens mount features electronic contacts, enabling electrical communication between the lens and the camera body. When combined with a Canon EOS R system body, it supports Exif information, in-body image stabilization (3-axis) *1 , and three types of focus assist functions (magnification, peaking, and focus guide *2 ).
Manual focus allows for precise focusing.
The all-metal helicoid unit, machined and adjusted with high precision, and the use of high-quality grease that produces just the right amount of torque, enable smooth focusing operation and allow for precise focus adjustments.
Symmetrical lens configuration
By combining a traditional symmetrical lens configuration with the latest optical glass (ultra-high refractive index glass), a large aperture of F1.4 is achieved in a compact size.

Reproducing the unique rendering of classic lenses, this lens produces a smooth, natural bokeh at wide apertures, creating a sense of depth. When stopped down, it delivers sharp images, allowing for a wide range of expression with just one lens.

A 10-blade aperture is used to create an aperture that is as close to a perfect circle as possible. This results in natural rendering of out-of-focus areas, and point light sources appear as soft, rounded bokeh rather than polygonal shapes.
